Flamenco is her mother tongue — but it was only through her own interpretation and bold artistic development that María Marín found a distinctive voice. Born in Utrera in 1987, the artist studied classical guitar at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague and worked with greats such as Tomatito, Carles Benavent, and Israel Galván. Her current album "Las Tres Marías" (2026) brings together original compositions, traditional flamenco forms, and texts by Lorca and Hernández — contemporary and yet deeply rooted. In 2025, she was the protagonist of Vogue’s special issue "The Women of Flamenco"; at th

Miles Davis and John Coltrane shaped jazz history like no other duo — together they created classics such as “Kind of Blue,” and later their own milestones like “Giant Steps” and “A Love Supreme.” In 2026, both would have celebrated their 100th birthdays — the occasion for an international all-star quintet made up of acknowledged experts on their music: trumpeter Kevin Dean (Montreal), one of the world’s leading jazz educators and a specialist in the Miles Davis sound, and saxophonist Kirk MacDonald, Canada’s leading man on the horn. Completing the lineup are Martin Sasse (piano, Cologne), Ald

In and over the darkest times, Dmitri Shostakovich composed his Symphony No. 7 in 1941/42. Like hardly any other symphonic work, the story of its creation — just like the life and work of the composer — is bound up with the events of world history. In the LENINGRAD SYMPHONY lies a musical expression of violence and threat, a timeless indictment of injustice and tyranny. Shostakovich vehemently resisted the one-sided appropriation of his symphony. The composer, who was often denounced by the Soviet authorities, later said of his best-known work: “I feel unquenchable pain for all those whom Hitl

WLADIMIR KAMINER is one of the most successful German authors. Anyone who goes to his readings knows the unconventional freshness of these events: they cut across the colorful literary garden. Not infrequently, the author spontaneously presents stories that are only a few hours old. Kaminer engages his guests with detailed descriptions of the situation, plenty of charm, and intelligent humor, and takes them on a journey. The outcome is always uncertain, never predictable, but always unique.

In connection with the pilgrimage movements around 1500 and 1600, there was an immense distribution of pilgrim badges. Workshops and temporary storage sites created specifically for this purpose served to supply the masses of pilgrims with pilgrimage badges and the necessary accommodation. The example of the “Klösterl” shows how closely, in an urban property, uses as a workshop, inn, and pilgrims’ hostel were linked with the omnipresent popular piety.

In the Lonely Planet travel guide, the hotel was mentioned as an insider tip. In her novel, she now creates a small, at times magical world in which people with very different characters and values come together for a short time. In doing so, she shows that the good in people can prevail even in difficult situations. The author writes novels, radio plays, and stage plays, and hosts a podcast. Gerda Stauner has already received various prizes and scholarsh
