SilverFriend

The SilverFriend app

You get the app. Your relative only needs their phone.

SilverFriend is your AI companion by phone. In the app you set up the calls, choose days and times, and see that a call took place and which topics came up.

iPhone with iOS 13 or later · Android 7.0 or later · Calls in German or English

Currently available in Germany (German phone numbers).

How to start

Three steps to the first call

  1. 1

    You install the app

You enter your relative's first name, call language and form of address, and how we can reach them.

  2. 2

    Your relative agrees themselves

By a call from someone on our team, by e-mail or by text message. Without consent, SilverFriend does not call.

  3. 3

You choose a plan, the calls begin

You set interests, call times and the voice, then subscribe in the store.

You only subscribe once your relative has agreed.

What the app does

Everything that matters, on your phone. The conversation stays with your relative.

  • Plan the calls

Choose days and times, daily between 7 am and 8 pm German time; the last call starts at 7:45 pm at the latest. Pause the calls when your relative is away.

  • Suggestions

Every day, one event nearby and one TV programme. With “Suggest this”, SilverFriend offers it in the calls until the day of the event. If you like, SilverFriend calls beforehand as a reminder.

  • Callback requests

Your relative can ask for a callback during a call. You see “Callback requested” with the time on that call.

  • Notices, checked by people

If something stands out after a call, someone on our team looks at it and asks you to get in touch.

  • Missed calls

If you like, SilverFriend tries up to two more times and lets you know when nobody answers. After seven unanswered calls in a row, we pause the calls and ask you whether everything is all right.

  • Voice and form of address

German and English each have two voices to choose from. For calls in German you also choose whether SilverFriend uses the formal or the informal form of address.

What you don't see

No conversation content, no summaries, no mood rating.

SilverFriend is not a home emergency system, not an emergency call service and not a medical device. In a life-threatening situation, always call 112 yourself. The service is currently available for German phone numbers.

Questions about the app

Where do I get the SilverFriend app?

On the App Store for iPhone (iOS 13 or later) and on Google Play for Android (7.0 or later). Search for “SilverFriend” or use the links on silverfriend.de/en/app. The app is for you as a family member; your relative only needs their phone.

What is the difference between Basic and Plus?

Basic calls landline numbers only, with up to 5 minutes of call time per day. Plus calls mobile and landline numbers, with no daily limit; each call lasts up to 30 minutes. The app's features are the same in both plans.

How much does SilverFriend cost?

Basic is €24 per month and Plus €34 per month, each incl. VAT. Billing is monthly through the App Store or Google Play; the price the store shows you at checkout is binding. Up to 7 days free, if your store account is eligible. The subscription renews monthly and can be cancelled any time in the store.

What are the suggestions in the app?

Every day the app shows you one event near your relative and a matching TV programme. You decide: “Suggest this”, “Keep in mind” or “Not relevant”. With “Suggest this”, SilverFriend offers it as a suggestion in the calls until the day of the event. If you like, SilverFriend calls beforehand as a reminder.

How do I cancel my subscription, and how do I delete my account?

Those are two different things. You manage and cancel your subscription in the App Store or on Google Play. You delete your account in the app under Settings; that deletes your account and your relative's profile, and it is completed within 30 days. Important: deleting your account does not end your subscription — please also cancel it in the store.
